PUMA & After Hours Athletes

ATTENTION: PUMA & VICE ARE HAVING A PARTY.

To celebrate the opening of PUMA Social, PUMA have teamed up with VICE to bring you After Hours Athletes. They've pulled together a selection of new bands for a celebration of pub sports in a variety of London pubs, and now they're looking for After Hours Athletes to participate in some more pub sports inspired fun in London and Manchester. So if I was you I'd sign up for this straight away at the Puma Social site which is HERE. I know Becca will be attending this one!

I also love the video (above) which I believe was made by Droga5. (geek advertising knowledge for you)

Rollercoaster

What a difference a day or two makes. Just over 24 hours ago I was feeling ultra depressed (probably Falmouth comedown). Heck, I even cried at a film! But today, despite oversleeping, my day has started good and so far is continuing that way...touch wood. The postman knocked on my window as I was getting in my car and handed me a pair of free Palladium boots. Then I sang (badly) all the way to work avoiding all the school kid traffic thanks to half term. I've also been working on some better briefs which is more fun than your 'kitchen & bathroom trade ads.' One of which is coming up for concepts for a viral video game. Also given a free lolly off one of the account team who also liked my idea for a different brief I had been set so tis all gravy. Ok, I'll be realistic..I DID have to do a bit of 'cutting-n-sticking' but hey, I strangely like spray mounting. :)

snowmen

I just discovered something new about myself. Looking at bad snowmen make me incredibly happy, more so than looking at cute animals on the internet. And even better than that...listening to reggae on the radio whilst looking at pictures of snowmen. :-)

It felt like Christmas as I drove to work this morning so I pretended I was driving to see a fake family of an insanely handsome fiancee for a xmas dinner in the countryside. Me and my imagination. I'm also designing christmas cards this morning. This photo made me lol.

This was taken whilst driving just before I watched Enter The Void.

An ecstatic Northerner.

brrr cold Monday mornings and weekend reviews

What a long/strange/eventful but non eventful/fun weekend. The clutch in my friend's metro went with all 5 of us coming to a stop at Bristol. Conveniently we broke down near a hugeee Asda where we stocked up on Sambuca and Connect 4 whilst we waited for the breakdown recovery. The AA guy was a 68 year old devonshire boy who told us his name was 'Sid Leg-end.' It was gonna be a fun journey. He told us some stories but unfortunately for you, what happens in the van, stays in the van. haha I'm joking but we did have a laugh and got merry. I needed a wee but because I wasn't lad and couldn't piss at the side of the road, Sid kindly turned his lights off whilst I had to pee behind a motorway telephone! Noice! When we finally arrived in Falmouth at 4am we thanked Sid and cracked open a bottle of Cava! I then parted ways with my new acquaintances and tipsily headed to Dario's house where he was FAST ASLEEP. Eventually after failing to break in and lobbing his recycling at his bedroom window, Dario finally woke up and let me in...him himself being drunk I think.

I wake up on an airbed with my sleeping bag pulled up to my face. 'God I'm sooooo coldddd.' I look down and the sleeping bag isn't even covering my body but layed horizontally across my face instead. What an idiot. Dario is kind enough to make me a sausage sandwich whilst I entertain myself fraping him in between morning chat roulette. Get ready, go town. Not even gonna tell you the hoody story. Get a terrible film developed. Grab a Great Shake. Buy stuff to make pancakes but never get round to it. Instead go round Sydney's house, snuggle up on her bed and laugh so much my makeup runs. Finally head out but never made it to the beer fest. Witnessed some wrong stuff in the pub. Saw nice people, watched Iron Man and it was time to wake up again. It was sad to leave so soon. Cue 2 car journeys, 2 trains and a replacement bus service. Literally had just one very expensive day in Falmouth but it was lovely. How come the people you meet at uni end up being your better friends ey?

D&AD Student Awards 2011

I've just seen the new student briefs for D&AD and I have to say I am SO jealous. The Wieden + Kennedy one for Honda looks amazing. Amazing company and amazing brand. GODAMMIT. Wish I could enter, the briefs last year were nowhere as good as these.

Weekend Plans!

Heading to FALMOUTH TONIGHT!!! In a mouldy metro :) woop!! Best brace myself for the beer festival, great shakes, broken teeth and Dario's bullying. Gonna be soooo good to see everyone! :D

See...someone's happy already.

FIRST SOLARGRAPH WOO!

Here is the result of mine and Eggy's first solargraph experiment! It was set up in Eggy's garden at 7:45am today and stopped around 6pm. When we took the paper out of the film we didn't think we would end up with anything but you can make just make out his house, a palm tree and a couple of ufos. LOL. This was taken with the Phoenix II and we dedicate it to all the rescued Chilean Miners.

Right. Ok. I'm gonna ignore the 'we sale cellphone, computer...' and I'll even ignore the 'we can have long-time cooperation.' But WTF IS THAT LAST BIT!?? 'Me of course malicious...from touch of dark corners of the mouth...' WHAAAAAAAAATTTTT!??? You should check out the website too, it's real dodgy.

Sent from Chemist Direct. Subject: Plan a perfect 'Thinner Party' with alli!‏

Alli? Isn't that that weight loss drug that makes you shit out your own fat? You mean I can really have a party where I bring all my cankle-bearing friends round and shit ourselves together? Now that's what I call socialising!

Solargraph fail.

Ok so Sputnik failed its first mission. Actually...that was my fault sorry...I put the photographic paper in the wrong way round. SCHOOL BOY ERROR. But don't worry, we have back ups and I'm gonna set up some more tonight.

Also, I fear my teeth are falling out.

Solargraph camera building

Tonight myself and Eggy have been/are making solargraph cameras. It's like a pinhole camera only you use photography paper instead of film and the images are usually exposed for long periods of time from anything up to a day to 6 months! There is a better explanation HERE (They are mainly used to track the patterns of the sun in the sky, hence the name)

ANYWAY...Here are some photos of our attempts at building some ready to experiment.

Tools: A lightproof container, a pin, photography paper, black paint, tape, aluminium can, sand paper.

Right, apologies for the explanation right now on all this.....currently Sputnik is set up and running as a tester as I speak, hopefully taking a photo of me and Eggy uploading photos of us making things to take photos of things. confusing ey! But in a minute I'm gonna go home and take out the paper in Sputnik, scan it in and see if it worked!

Another one from the archive. (Marsa Alam, Egypt.)

daily photo

This is one of my favourite photos I have taken. It's of Jubilee Pool in Penzance which was built in 1935 to mark the Silver Jubilee of King George V and is one of the few remaining Art Deco lidos in the entire country. It would of looked nicer if I had a wider angle lense but I love how the colours turned out making it look really retro despite being taken this year. I'm really getting back into photography so fingers crossed you will see a lot more of my stuff on here.

sue & the monster

untitled

it's about misbehaving. not giving a fuck. loving the people closest to you without holding back. appreciating every tiny little action that has a reaction. running away and then being reunited. getting lost. and then being found. and then getting lost. looking up. winning, but being ok with losing. living life as a soul, not a body. being utterly contempt in a room with your own head. but also totally ecstatic when those rare people lift you. knowing where you have been and where you're going. or not. it's about freedom. and fear. and sadness. and pain. moving on and letting go. making it what you make it. being in total control of the uncontrollable.

I love everything that matters to me with all my heart right now! Thank you SKY!!!!

Spike Jonze film response (CRINGE)

Remember me telling you about how good the Creators Project was? Well there was a video booth where you had to answer a series of questions in response to Spike Jonze's short film 'I'm here.' I had no idea what I was going to be asked and this was shot very recently after my break up so I gave the dumbest least emotional response ever so ENJOY! haha, oh and dario opens it up!

Banksys controversial Simpsons intro

Mount Kimbie/Scarlet Harlots at the Hare & Hounds :-)

Owwwee. I've got a headache but crinkly mini cheddars and lucozade should solve that. Last night was gooooooooooooood. Ate some tasty duck then went to the Mount Kimbie/Scarlet Harlot gig and I was pleasantly surprised. Really nice vibe, intimate venue, good crowd and dancings! Even went halfs on a cd so I'ma put that on now at work and zone outttttt! I think someone should send me some nice/funny emails to get me through the day xxxxxxxxx

Opened my musical ears to the Scarlet Harlots and I'm loving this tune by them. Debating whether to go see them on Wednesday...

ENTER THE VOID

Watched this last night at The Electric and after having a sleep to digest what I thought about it, I've decided it was pretty fucking good. (Even though my favourite part is the opening credits.) The actual story may not be to everyones tastes, it drags on and I think the only taboo it didn't include was rape but the way Gaspar Noe directed it was truly groundbreaking. Looking back on it now I thought it would be a film you could only watch once but there's something addictive about it. Go watch it...you might jump too!

The Last Drop (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Iguanodon Mix)

Sent this by my brother...It's a proper nice tune and not empty minimal techno for once :)

Palladium/Johnny Knoxville

Heritage boot brand Palladium are continuing their quest to explore hidden, forgotten and abandoned places in urban environments. Their latest exploration entitled "Detroit Lives" features Johnny Knoxville, who takes viewers on an "off-the-beaten path" exploration through the city to discover if there's more to Detroit than the scenes of destruction and abandonment that it has become known for.

Once the fourth-largest metropolis in America—some have called Detroit the Death of the American Dream. In this 30 minute 3-episode documentary, Knoxville discovers a DIY paradise full of artists and entrepreneurs who view the abandoned "D" as a raw space where young people can create community and start rebuilding their city from the inside out. A burgeoning class of young people are inspiring each other by using the cities 'disadvantages' as opportunities. His hosts include notable Detroit punk band The Dirtbombs and hip-hop artist Black Milk.
